Kotarou lives near Mount Takao, Tokyo Prefecture. Closed in on himself for a very long time, he is invited by a former friend for a walk on the slopes of the same mountain. We then understand that his solitary side is due to an abduction by the spirits of the forest. But upon contact with the temple, Kotarou begins to have visions of what happened and decides to go to the forest once again in order to find out for sure. But he falls and just as he thought he would die, he wakes up enveloped by an immense white wolf. A tengu then appears in the form of a young woman who tells him that it was she who helped him when he was younger but also that, because this meeting is their third, they must get married.
Kotarou vit près du mont Takao, dans la préfecture de Tokyo. Renfermé sur lui-même depuis très longtemps, il est invité par un ancien ami à une ballade sur les flancs de cette même montagne. On comprend alors que son côté solitaire est dû à un enlèvement par les esprits de la forêt. Mais au contact du temple, Kotarou commence à avoir des visions de ce qu'il s'est passées et décide de se rendre une nouvelle fois dans la forêt afin d'en avoir le coeur net. Mais il chute et alors qu'il pensait mourir, il se réveille enveloppé par un immense loup blanc. Un tengu apparaît alors sous les traits d'une jeune femme qui lui annonce que c'est bien elle qui l'avait aidé quand il était plus petit mais aussi que, du fait que cette rencontre est leur troisième, ils doivent se marier.
